Animal Orphan Care
A downloadable game for Windows
The world is plagued by The Levelers, humans who grind monsters for sweet, sweet loot and levels. In this tiny game you're an older woman who saves baby monster orphans to give them a home safe from the human gamers.
I made this tiny game as a "feeler", to see if there are people who like games like this that are more focused on nurturing/wholesome aspects. I would love to hear any thoughts you have on what you like/don't like (also on the theme).
I may make a fuller game in the future with more fleshed out mechanics if the concept appeals to people. It would have simpler art (because the art I made for this version is too time-consuming on a larger scale) but thematically similar.
Hope you like it!

man why are all the good games always for pc
this was cute ...now i feel bad for level grinding
Ah, Thank you so much!❤️
Also Undertale made me feel that so hard! We're killing "monsters" but they just live there, we're coming over and wrecking their stuff 😭
I would like to play a longer version of this game with more choices and a leveling system for gathering materials - it can take a little while, especially for the bigger items.
Oh my goodness Calamity!
Thank you for being so patient with my reply.
I am just so, so moved. I cannot believe you not only played my game, but made a video while doing it and you are sharing it here with me!
I had to pause your video several times because I couldn't believe that you were saying such sweet and nice things about this little game I made. It's like I can't put into words how much this touched me and you made me feel proud.
Thank you so much, you have made my YEAR!
Big, BIG Hugs!

Great art style, love the parallax effect!
Could definitely see this becoming a great full game with some balancing and more of that passion that so clearly went into this demo. Mycket bra jobb! :)
I'm so honored that you played my game! Tack så himla mycket, dina ord betyder verkligen mycket för mig!
Tried it out due to your reddit post. Love the art style, and the wholesomeness of the game. The only thing I did not like was to be given a choice to take a baby, and when you select no you take it anyway - never present an option you're not prepared to honor, if you want people to take all the babies either force them or find a more elegant solution. But that's a small niggle in a very very positive experience that left me wanting more :-)
Thank you so much for being patient with reply. I am so honored that you played my game. And your kind words hit me straight in the chest, Thank you!
I 100 % agree with you that it feels a little sneaky/cheap to put in the option to not take the babies, but not really have it as an option. I take what you say with me, and will use your feedback in my projects in the future for sure.
I hope you have a wonderful day! :)
Warmest regards,
Hulda
This game was very beautiful. I loved the look and feel of the island, and the animal babies were so cute, especially the puppy on his little pillow.
I like the theme a lot. Nurturing and caring for the victims of other violent video game players is an interesting idea, and there need to be more wholesome and nurturing games. The story bits were well written and interesting. They really made the world feel real and deep in just a few paragraphs.
I'm sure this would be adjusted and balanced in a full game and that this is just a proof-of-concept thing, but the materials used for things and the amounts (130 wood for puppy pajamas, for example) didn't really make sense.
I would definitely play a fully-developed version of this. I followed you, and am looking forward to whatever you decide to work on next.
First of all, thank you for your patience with my reply.
I just want to express to you how grateful I am for your absolutely wonderful feedback. Reading you kind word makes me swell with pride!
Also, before your reply I was unsure if there would be others who liked themes that are more nurturing/kind themes. Reading that the theme specifically is something you like makes me so glad. It makes me feel like it's a theme I can keep exploring, even if we would be just very few people who would enjoy it. Thank you for this!
And I absolutely see what you say with some materials (like wood for pajamas) not really being logical. I take this with me, and will incorporate your feedback in my future projects!
You are wonderful, and I hope your week is great!
Best regards
Hulda
